Hi Neal! congrats on the Kerry Kennedy afterword! That seems like kind of a big deal! ;]
Totally enjoying the newsletters... the honesty is awesome. ["I don’t have anything to full-on rave about this month" -- we all have runs of that... can't wait to hear about the next book you LOVE!]
Oh, thanks a ton Elaine! Yeah, I'm psyched about the new afterword - very gracious of her. And I'd love to come by the shop in Feb and sign some copies -- ??
So glad you're enjoying the newsletter - and the honesty. I'll never slam a book, but sometimes I just can't rave, either. Btw, any interest in contributing a review or a booklist sometime? Hope to get back to Edmonds soon.
So many odd coincidences. I am currently drinking a margarita as I read this. I'm also currently reading Dennis Lehane and I was just thinking/wondering if you put a new book out anytime soon. Listening to an episode of Conan O'Brien needs a a friend, Conan being maybe the second most famous guy from brookline, Mass. lastly among your recommend, "Debbie Don't", my recent exes name is Debbie, weird! Anyway thanks for letting me know about a new one from the master of Mass' noir!
Weird indeed! (Also weird that the "comment" button I posted links to this older post). Enjoy the new Lehane -- and the 'rita. I'm going to check out Conan O'Brien needs a a friend.
Hi Neal! Wanted to say thanks for recommending The Local. It scratched a Grisham itch for me. Good thing too because Grisham hasn’t scratched that itch in years.
Hey Michael! Glad you liked it. Definitely Grisham-esque. You remind me: I need to read more Grisham, new and old. He used to be a fave but I haven't read him for a while. Cheers.
Congrats on the new book, that’s really exciting and sounds like a very interesting topic, the more I look into that family, the more there is to look into!
Love the drink idea! I have heard talk of doing similar things with other spirits, putting herbs and flavorings in the bottle itself, but this may be my favorite idea yet.
Thanks for the congrats, Ross! Agreed: fascinating family (I'm currently researching JFK's assassination). Hope you check out my take on the Irish-immigrant origins of the Kennedys in America. And enjoy the freezer door Manhattan. Cheers. Thanks for reading.
Killers of the Flower Moon was absolutely one of my favorite reads last year, and they're making it into a movie scheduled for release in May 2023. Couldn't be as good as the book, of course, but it's sure looking epic with Leonardo di Caprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and John Lithgow, among other remarkable but lesser-known actors. It's directed by Martin Scorsese with script by Scorsese and Eric Roth (Oscar-winning adapted screenplay writer for Forrest Gump, with five other nominations - I guess he's pretty good at this adapted screenplay business.) I'm hopeful.
The cover for the new book looks great - looking forward to it! Also, thank you, really enjoying the reads, reviews and especially cocktail recommendations. I hosted a big family party party this weekend - it went well, really, despite the "leftover" bottle of Larceny bourbon. Was wondering what to do with that, but now am defrosting peas to make room for that freezer door Manhattan. Also following Hirsch on insta thanks to your rec. Grateful!
Hi Mimi - I just heard about the movie! Looks like it's going to be huge. What a lineup! Thanks for reading Blood & Whiskey, and glad the drink recs are helpful. Cheers.
Thanks Jeremy! Yeah, Stolen Focus was an eye-opener for me. I mean, it's stuff that seems a bit obvious, but when you dig deeper is actually pretty cynical and harmful. Have fun with the freezer door! And I still need to try your Pefect Manhattan. I found a copy of Rebecca in a Free Library, so I may pair it with that, as you did. Let me know what you think of the two Kennedy books. And if you want a hardcover of The First Kennedys, lemme know. Or maybe a giveaway for your readers? (I could mail it myself). Anyway, thanks for reading/commenting.

1) I reviewed Stolen Focus back in the spring and found it equally disgusting what Big Tech has done to our minds.
2) That freezer door Manhattan looks amazing . . . definitely going to try it out over the holiday season!
3) I started in on John Farrell's "Ted Kennedy" and have Gabler's "Against the Wind" lined up after that. There's always more Kennedy, isn't there? :)
